New Delhi- A verse form sacred book Bhagavad Gita, has been kept on reciting again and again in our country since ages, BUT are the real conditions on par with this well-known Shloka?? The answer without any second thought is NO.
Being Social -एक नई शुरुआत while recognizing this individual social responsibility, executed its first ever flash mob on the theme – no more rape on 9 September 2018 at Crown’s Interiorz Mall, Sector-37, Faridabad.
The sole motive of flash mob was to spread awareness about this devil, to reach maximum people so that more and more citizens joins this movement and altogether removes this illness from society.
Being social believing that prevention is better than cure took a step ahead to prevent this illness rather than waiting for the incident to take place and then go for the cure or candlelight marches.
So the big day finally arrived, volunteers reached at the venue all excited, bit nervous and all set to turn this collective dream that we have been seeing from months in to reality.
The event started with the live presentation of self-defense techniques by two lady police constables named from Faridabad Police. They showed how to tackle a person differently who is trying to harass you in different ways and situations.
They also introduce us with the FIR mobile application and other help-line numbers. The next in turn was the Flashmob consisting of dance, drama and poetry, wonderfully executed by our volunteers putting their heart and soul in to it, forgetting all the pain and difficulties they went through during practice sessions.
The performance and the after reaction of audience could seemingly tell that we have succeeded in our mission and it was all worth it. We were also joined by Abheesha Jain and Sukhdev Bhatia authors of the book Rape in India Who educated us about the situation of women in our country and causes of rape through a short documentary.
The event further proceeded with the presentation of kick boxing session presented to us by members of Safe and Secure group. The event ended on a happy note with award distribution to our sponsors.
Our team showed true meaning of dedication, hard work and commitment with our first flashmob on this theme. BUT there are miles to go. Kudos to all.
