Vandana Ladhani- As with other women, the childhood dream of wearing the tiara and walking the ramp came back again and again. The journey of the Mrs India Earth pageant started with me seeing a post of an acquaintance wearing the crown on Facebook. Digging more into her profile opened my doors to the first and the only registered pageant for married women.

With the vision of saving and contributing towards the Mother Earth, I after several rounds and interviews before becoming a finalist of the prestigious pageant. A total of 50 contestants were now to compete for the coveted title of “Mrs India Earth”, the finale of which was held on 7th September at ITC Welcome Hotel, Dwarka.

I with the grace of God and love, support and blessings of everyone, was crowned as the Mrs India Earth first Runner’s up. I was also crowned as the Mrs India Earth face of North. I would now represent India at the Mrs United Nations Pageant to be held next year.

Winning the crown was surely a journey in itself. It is not a task one would accomplish on his/her own. It was only with the support and blessings of family, friends and colleagues that I could bring the title back home.

My Association with Rotary International started way back in 2011 when I admitted my son into the school. As a parent, I had several interactions with the staff and the principal and was spellbound with their knowledge and professionalism.

Fate has different plans for me and after admitting my daughter to school in 2012, I was offered to teach the pre-primary classes. With no teaching experience, it was only with the support and guidance of the Principal Mrs Sandeepa Rai, that I acquired the naunces of being an educator.

These six years of being with Rotary International have been very fruitful and I am sure, I have been able to touch the lives of many children in the process.
